Born Sarah Blanche Sweet on June 18, 1896 in Chicago, Illinois, Blanche Sweet started her stage career when she was four years old. She later achieved success in silent film but was mostly unable to transition to sound film success. Sweet attributed this to her unwillingness to sign a contract. Sweet died from a stroke on Sept. 6, 1986.
